Residencial Playa del Moro
Alcoceber, Castellon, Spain
1996-2001
The coastal town of Alcoceber, on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, approved in 1996 a new master plan for future urban development. As a consequence of it, new construction cannot exceed three stories in most areas and the allowable maximum density is medium to low. This is extraordinarily unusual along the “Manhattanized” Spanish Mediterranean board.
The land provided for this residential development consists of a three and a half hectares (seven acres) lot with a trapezoidal shape that sits in front of a small beach. The layout for the residential enclave was determined by what we considered the best laws that were contemplated in the master plan. In this sense, we wanted to reinforce the low rise – medium density policies of the plan and set a formal architectural precedent to go along with it.
